FDSOA Celebrates 30th Anniversary

The Fire Department Safety Officers Association will celebrate its 30th anniversary January 12-16, 2020, in Scottsdale, AZ.

“The FDSOA Board of Directors is very excited to be celebrating our 30th year anniversary of the FDSOA and with our new logo commemorating this milestone,” said Eric Valliere, chairman, FDSOA.

“This is also a significant time for the FDSOA as we grow from a two-day Safety Forum to a full-week Health and Safety Conference with more preconference offerings and an increase in Health and Safety programs that are relevant to a Safety Officer’s mission,” said Valliere. “It is also a time to honor the previous boards and membership for getting this influential association to this point and to share the excitement that our current board has to take the FDSOA to the next level.”

The FDSOA’s Fire Apparatus, Safety and Maintenance Conference will begin Sunday, January 12th, with pre-conference programs including Fire Pump and Accessories with Hands-On Pump Tear Down and the popular Spec Writing program. January 13-15th, the conference will offer 35 programs targeting apparatus topics on aerials, electrical systems, wildland vehicles, and more. Several programs will focus on roadway safety and the new protocols for clean cabs to help prevent cancer in first responders. The conference also offers a post-conference program, January 15th, on Aerial Maintenance.

Concurrently, the Health and Safety Conference pre-conference programs begin on Monday, January 13th, with The Five Reads and two-day Incident Safety Officer and Health and Safety Officer Academies. Tuesday, January 14th, additional pre-conference programs include Incident Investigation, Pro Board Skills for ISO and Sets & Reps for Incident Safety Officers.

The Health and Safety Conference begins on Wednesday and Thursday and will feature 22 programs starting with keynote speakers Royal Mortenson and Greg Flynn, followed by topics ranging from NIOSH 5 and investigating injuries to technology to help safety officers and hostile fire events.
